There is a ton of down time over the summer when all you have to do is work. Being in a frat makes my rent fairly low when membership is high and so since I am not taking classes this summer I have nothing to do but work. I am a cook at a stir fry restaurant here in town and my work is fairly simple and doesn't really bother me much when I am there or not there. To keep myself busy I have been going to the pool a ton and riding my bike a lot. I have been driving out to various spots in the area to find cool trails to ride on. I have a Cannondale mountain bike which is just an amazing bike for the kinds of riding I like to do and I am really happy that I have the whole summer to really rip apart the trails around here. I am trying to build another bike while everyone is gone so that I can also have a single speed bike for just commuting. I like having this bike as a seven speed bu it's just a little bit heavy for me. I have been using an older Cannondale model to build myself a nice road commuter bike.
Besides the biking, working, and swimming I have been doing this summer, I have been put in charge of getting some little things ready for the fall. Our frat plans and schedules all of our fall parties in the spring so that over the summer we can get everything we need that is non perishable and then just have it there when the day rolls around. My responsibility this week is to get all of the frat's promotional items like our t-shirts for bar tours and our fundraiser t-shirts. We also do a lot of fundraising for ourselves and we get promotional items made up to support various causes here on campus. Usually we go through a campus printer but this year I have found a source online that can cuts our costs by a huge amount so everyone is going to be really excited when they see what I have saved us for the fall.
That's the summer in a nutshell and I am loving it.
