Farewell to the Exchange Students

On Monday night, we took our group of exchange students from Germany, China, Austria, France, and the UK to Bottom's Up downtown to celebrate the end of exams and to say 'goodbye' after their year in Richmond.

Here's a look at our dinner together and the pizza at Bottom's Up:

Tales of Ghana

VCU student and Gilman scholar Nahid Kookanrizi has been studying abroad in Ghana this semester through the International Student Exchange Program. Following are some of her beautiful photos and here is what she writes:

AKWABA!

Hello and greetings from Ghana! As the semester comes to an end and as the final month settles in, I've been dreading the idea of parting away from Ghanaian life. Ghana is comprised of various natural landscapes that are beyond beautiful, from white sand beaches and palm trees to tropical rainforests overlooking the mountains. I'm currently residing in Accra, the captial of Ghana, which is filled with Taxis, Tro Tros ( the cheapest/most advernturest form of transportation), people carrying various merchandises on their heads to sell - all day/everyday, mothers with babies on their backs. Ghanaina high life music blasting from the radios, and the blairing beams of sun is bound to make your pigmentation 3 shades darker in a manner of minutes. The University of Ghana is a wonderful campus, my dorm is very comforting, the friends I've met are some of the most intriguing people to be around. One thing that I'm thankful about studying abroad is not only the cultural experience of it all, but also meeting people within my own country who have backgrounds vastly different from my own, who I would of never had the oppurtunity of meeting if it wasn't for participating in this experience.
