The Virginia Association of Broadcasters (VAB) offers PAID summer internships to students who will be entering their Junior or Senior year effective Fall Semester 2010 at a college of university that offers undergraduate classes in the following courses of study: Computer Science, Business, Electronic Media, Engineering, Graphic Design and Mass Communication including Advertising, Journalism (print or broadcast), Marketing and Public Relations.
The internship program is 8-weeks in length and begins Monday, June 7, 2010. All interns should plan to work 40-hours per week at $7.25/hour. In order to have the best internship experience possible, all interns will have the opportunity to work in various departments at either a radio or television station during the 8-week program. A total of 32 students statewide will be selected to participate and all interns will be placed at a radio or television station in the state of Virginia. Every effort is made to place a student in their geographical area of preference; however, this can not be guaranteed. Only students who are Virginia residents OR a non-resident currently attending an accredited college or university in the state of Virginia are eligible for the Summer Internship Program.

The Richmond Public Relations Foundation, a 501‐c (3) charitable arm of PRSA Richmond, annually administers the David P. Hurdle and William Dietrick Memorial Scholarships in honor of the two esteemed former members.

Using a combination of graphic design skills and technical knowledge of how web pages are created, the work involves:

■ Access Confidential, developed in 2004, is a web-based application and a new concept among new business tools.
Who you will work with:
You will work closely with the research managers at Access Confidential on a daily basis.
Where you will work:
The headquarter offices of Access Confidential is located in Richmond, VA. There is a second office located in the offices of the parent company, AAR Partners located in midtown Manhattan. There are immediate internships and/or part-time opportunities in the Richmond office. Internships/part-time work is also available in the NYC office upon request.
What you will do:
You will be responsible for researching marketing companies and their communication’s relationships in the industry. Your internship will include contacting marketing companies directly, as well as researching their information online and through top industry publications. It is truly a unique way to study one of the most fascinating fields and receive hands-on experience during your undergraduate studies.
What your responsibilities will be:
» Researching marketing companies and maintaining proprietary database with updated information by researching the daily press, advertising trade publications, online databases, and conducting phone interviews.
Compensation:
For credit internships - $10 per day (covers transportation expenses)
Many students are offered part-time positions at the completion of their internship contingent upon their interest level and our evaluation of their internship.
Computer Competency: Windows/PC
Good telephone and writing skills necessary.

Internship Goals:
