PR Internship Duties include:

Venture Richmond is a non profit organization that engages business and community leaders with the City to enhance the vitality of the community, particularly downtown, through economic development, marketing, promotion, advocacy and events.

This internship is with our event production staff, responsible for producing numerous festivals and events throughout the year. Our events feature a broad spectrum of music and include visual arts, strolling performers and children’s activities.

This internship is designed to give the intern an overview of the planning, budgeting, production and marketing of events and festivals. Office and/or event hours range from 12-15 hours per week.


Internship Objectives
• To gain experience in the production of large public events
• To learn event management techniques by working with a professional events organization
• To enhance community relations skills through direct public contact throughout the festival

This job is essential to the smooth operation of the festival and utilizes leadership, organizational and public relations skills. It is the intern’s primary responsibility during festival/events.

4. The intern will assist with third party rental management of event venues. Organizations and individuals contract with Venture Richmond to rent Riverfront properties, Brown’s Island or Turning Basin/Canal Walk, to host concerts, festivals, company picnics, and parties.

5. Marketing/Sponsorship:

REQUIREMENTS
Municipal Internship Program positions are developed to provide meaningful curriculum-related experience in a professional working environment. The program is designed for students who have attained at least a junior-level status while currently in attendance at a four-year college or university. Current post-graduate (Master, Doctorate, etc.) students are also eligible. Students who will be graduating immediately before the start of the program (those graduating in May) will maintain their eligibility for the upcoming 2008 summer session.

Valentine Richmond History Center

The Valentine Richmond History Center has recently received funding to host four-five summer interns for Summer 2008.

Each intern would need to complete 150 hours with the History Center and would be paid a stipend ranging from $500-$750 upon completion. Students can choose the department in which they would like to work and intern schedules are flexible and can be arranged between the intern and internship supervisor.

Participants will receive career guidance, feedback, mentoring and multiple layers of work experience. Our goal is to build a long-term program that provides a pipeline of diverse and exceptional talent by recruiting, hiring and developing a select group of the nation’s 2008 top graduating seniors (graduate and undergraduate).

The 2008 training program will begin with an orientation at Gannett’s headquarters on June 5 - 6. Participants will be placed in fulltime positions at Gannett locations nationwide.

We are looking for graduating seniors interested in advertising sales, television/print/online reporting, circulation, finance and broadcast producing opportunities. We place a premium on students who are bilingual and possess strong multimedia skills.

Applications are due by February 29, 2008 for consideration for the program. All applicants will be notified by April 18, 2008 of their selection status.

Virginia Golf Association Internship: DL 3.7.08:Paid

Deadline for internship applications is March 7, 2008.


The Virginia State Golf Association is fortunate enough to provide three internships in golf administration through a grant from the United States Golf Association to individuals interested in the golf business.
