Congressman J. Randy Forbes (R-VA) has an unpaid Press Internship position available for the 2009 summer session in his Washington, DC office. Duties include assisting communications staff with daily press operations including listbuilding, drafting press releases, planning press conferences/events, and performing administrative tasks. Must possess exceptional communication and writing skills and be motivated, self-starter, detail oriented, and be able to multi-task. The ideal candidate will be a college or graduate school student with a background or interest in journalism or communications. Virginia ties preferred, but not necessary. DESCRIPTION
The American Diabetes Association is proud to announce the availability of an exciting summer internship in our Central Virginia office. The office is located in Innsbrook at 4335 Cox Road, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060. We offer a flexible internship of up to one year with the ability to fit your educational needs and earn credits.

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) seeks a highly motivated, self-starting student who is passionate about public service. Intern will provide support to ADA staff and gain valuable skills and insights while assisting with event planning, corporate research and volunteer outreach for the American Diabetes Association throughout Central Virginia. ADA internships are unpaid, but the hours are part-time and the schedule can be flexible. If your degree program requires you to do an internship this can be used as course credit, where applicable. Convenient parking is provided by the ADA.

This internship will enable a skilled student to assist the ADA by working on important fund-raising cultivation events. This internship will provide the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas including:

FUNDRAISING & EVENT PLANNING
* Assist with planning & implementation of special events along with pre and post events.
* Assist with donor tracking and follow-up both in recruitment and registering companies, teams and individuals
* Draft letters, mail out and follow-up to prospective sponsors and special guests
* Design and prepare event materials and communications including newsletters, email blasts, phone calls, etc.

MARKETING
* Researching charitable programs of major local corporations
* Assisting with implementation of marketing strategies
* Project development and management
* Strategic planning of brochure distribution
* Street team recruitment and management
* Research and data entry projects


REQUIREMENTS
* Interpersonal communications skills.
* Excellent writing and research skills.
* Ability to see the "big picture" and assist with all aspects of events and programs.
* Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of assignments simultaneously.
* Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student.
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Internet and e-mail.
* Proficiency in database management and design of spreadsheets.
* Superior academic record.
* No experience necessary, but attention to detail and accountability is required.
* Ability to lift 25 lbs.

* * Time commitment of 15-20 hours per week is requested.

Summer Fellow Program: Public Policy Internships:DL 1/31/09

The Charles G. Koch Summer Fellows Program is accepting applications for its public policy internships. The goal of the program is to advance free markets and individual liberty.

Details:
-Internships are from June 6 - August 14, 2009.
-Placements are at Washington D.C., Think Tanks and State Policy Organizations.

-There is a $1,500 stipend for travel and housing.

-Policy Analysis Seminars and Career Training are also available.
