i miss beijing

i miss beijing so much. yesterday i called my mom and i almost burst into tears the moment i heard her voice. i had a fever and still feel sick sometimes. but i could not tell her for she must feel worried about me. and i called my father too. he was so excited when he heard my voice. every girl is her father's little price. this is truth! daddy said : if you feel cold, grab a blanket next time you go to wal-mart. actually, it is unnecessary although it is so cool at night. missing his cooking~~

cheng meng is now my full-time babysitter. as a matter of fact, i didn't force her to be so . but she is a natural. every morning she cooks for us which makes me feel warm and happy. if i were a man, definitely i would marry her! it is not that i don't want to help her. hehe i am always ready to help others. but the tragedy is that the moment i stepped into the kitchen, fire alarm went out. GOSH! swear to god, i didn't do anything. i was really scared so i decided i would not go to kitchen or cook any more during the time in US. every girl in my dorm takes care of me and treats me like their baby. they test my temperature by putting their hands on my forehead by shift every hour. i was so touched and was called on the things happened during the military training in high school. i was sick by that time and qiuyan put her coat on my shoulder. and she
told me to drink as much water as possible. and she helped me make bed and settle down everything.
hope everything will be fine. tomorrow is another day! hahahahaha~~~~~

overseas study1

yesterday we had our first class on American history. the teacher were very professional and shared many unique point of views. in fact, as a English-majored students of bfsu, the content the teachers had taught was the course we had to take last semester. sometimes i get the feeling that
we know much about the America history and culture than they do about china's. to most of the Americans, the only access for them to approach china is through Zhang Yimou's movies. in fact, Zhang's movie mainly focus on the people struggling back and forth the poverty line. it only reflects a single side of china. china is not what it was like in his movies. anyway, china is an ancient and charming country which owns a long history and radiant civilization. we have the great wall, the forbidden city, the summer palace , heaven temple ~~~~ we are a country with 5000-year history which makes every chinese feel proud. haha sounds like the lyrics of the travel channel's commercials.

back to the reality. maybe because i was born and grew up in Beijing, the capital city of china, center of politics and culture. Beijingers are big fans of politics. even taxi driver can tell the latest information happening on the other side of the globe. we like chatting and share our opinions. different from China, Americans are declined to politics. maybe BUSH lets them down and screws many things up in the international affairs.haha~~ according to the statistics, 75% of the Americans do not know where Taiwan is. i doubt the staggering number but at least it reflects the fact of what i have said. no offense! there is just a comparison of the different culture and habits we belong to.

overseas study2

yesterday we had another course of American history. during the course, we had a heated discussion. the funniest question raised by a fudan student is what will end the war on Iraq. then the doctor said: well, maybe the best solution is to elect a new president. well, REAGAN is a humorous and interesting ex-president of the US. due to the vietnam war, americans were inclined to be skeptical. thanks to the wise leadership and pep talks Mr, Reagan gave to his nation, this country gradually stepped out of the darkness brought by the war and got rid of the skepticism eventually. america is indeed a very lucky country. it is known to all that us made a great fortune during the WW1 &WW2. what's more, its homeland had never been bombed or occupied. the only place they got the attack from the ww2 is pearl harbor. and then, after the allied army got the victory, us launched two bombs to the japan. so, it was a even. anyway, america is a country full of hopes and optimism. haha~~~, let's change another topic later. get bored ~~~~

happy life?! ^_^

all of my friends who have ever been to the US before(including my aunty)told me that "the foods in america is very cheap." but the truth is almost every one of us thought the price was not that cheap than we expected. i have never seen the label carefully back in china before. but when we are here, everyone of us have to learn to read the label, multiply 8 ,then a staggering number comes out~~ daddy joked"never saw you doing this while you were in brazil!" FAINT!! that is because i didn't have to do the pay-the-money job. you were always willing to buy anything i favored. maybe i was well protected by you and mommy so much. now i realized making money is not that easy than i imagined. daddy still comforted:just don't do the math. sweetie~ no big deal ~~OK! i just SPEND EVERY PENNY in your credit card and let's see what your react will be.HAHAHAHA~~~~

yaoyao has been enrolled by the medical school of PEKING UNIVERSITY(best school in china, top ranked kind). CONGRATULATIONS! do not worried. mommy is the professor of the university.if you need any help ,just let her know. she will cover you.!hahaha~~

someone is missing me! win girl!! ^_^

dramatic miracle

yesterday i experienced the most exciting and interesting day in my days in US. all the things happened to us can be called a miracle.

in the afternoon, girls decided to have some explosion on our own. so we walked to the monument s. the block was so quiet and peaceful. different from china, americans use to live in big house. coz they have enough place and space to build anything they want (empire building^_^) we walked all along and took a lot of marvelous pictures around the explosion. the american people are really friendly and nice. when you encounter some strangers, they will smile to you and say "hello" which seldom happens in beijing. i think beijing is more like new york or D.C. coz it is a big city. big city equals to "time is money." people run on the road instead of walk.hahah~~ so they don't have the time to be friendly. FLASH BACK! and then we met a very very nice couple who live on this street. they strolled with their dog booker. kids and dogs like me. booker approached to me and smelled my pants with his little nose. the lady said"he likes u!" TRUTH! and then we took a few pictures for the cute dog and said goodbye to the couple. a few minutes later, we were all exhausted and didn't plan to go any further. sitting in front of the status, we were hoping an ANGEL could show up and help us get out of here. one minute passed , two minutes passed ~~~ still nobody turned out~~~ and then the lady approached and introduced us to see the movie harry potter in a wonderful theater nearby. actually i really wished i could go. but i had promised my pals to see it with them when i come back to china. sorry can not break the pact! crying~~~ i wish a policeman or an intern could give us a lift. nobody showed up. matt said we had to have a heart-to-heart communication.but the fact is u r absent most of the time, how come we talked. anyway, then that lady come back again, she invited us to have a cup of lemonade in her home. hahaha we were so so so lucky. on the way to her house, we met a old couple who knew Chinese. they waved to us and said "nihao"(hello) which made us feel surprise. they had been to china this year in May and generously gave a lot of good comments on china.haha ,then they invited us to come visit them next week! hahahah win girl!!! just at that time, BRIAN showed up. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! at first i thought he was the son of the old couple. hahahah
he told us he had seen us sitting near the status miserably. i told him that i was exhausted and
he could not stopped laughing. then we all together visit the house and enjoyed the cool drinks so much. there was a detail, Brian wanted to help me take pictures but my camera was tied with my bracelets. and then he had to help me get rid of it. much a nice and considerate boy~~~~haha
and then he drove us to the famous african dance show. before that he took us to see the james river. on the way, he constantly told jokes which made us very happy. but the bad thing was it began to rain a couple of minutes after the show began. he got back to the car to fetch the umbrella. but eventually we decided to go back.
hahahahah with all the coincidences and dramatic things it was really very interesting and funny last night. BRIAN is just like a big brother taking care of us. and his smile is cute and warm which made us feel secured. hahahah i planed to make the whole article more interesting but now it just like a ~~~
hope you guys enjoy reading it !`~~~

beach holidays

we had a wonderful weekends on the VB. sunshine, sands , waves ,birds and healthy people. everything went perfectly there. actually, all the beaches around the world are similar ^_^ then something unhappy happened. really do not know and do not want to know why~~~ and why mankind hate and jealous?!! mommy always told me to be generous and warm-hearted to the people around. does that number really mean so much to you. is "straightforward" so tough to u?
sometimes pointing-out is the best solution. beijing girl is straightforward. we do not fake or pretend. to the person i do not like, i won't make myself like. so why u can not point something out and make us feel comfortable. a unity means everyone takes care and sacrifices for others. it is stupid to shift your anger or bad emotion to the innocent ones. grow up! stop acting childish~~~

williamsburger: fuuny tour guide

i had a happy day today. our popular intern Matt takes the responsibility to be our tour guide. along the road, we saw a lot of places of interests. THOMAS JEFFERSON, one of the fathers of the US, seems to be very popular around the sites. we saw his statues everywhere.hahahah~~~ Matt is really sweet and considerate. he bought us cheese and bread which made him like a babysitter or brother. and he might freak out by the questions we threw to him. when i raised the question about religion, he said my friends were good at it. when i asked "fossil or god", he said most of the people believed in god but still could not find the sensible reason. Darwin used his sharp observation and intelligence to prove the course of men. but we could not find any clue to prove the stories in HOLY BIBLE. no offense! i really appreciate the fact the religion takes a big part in many countries. coz it did a great job on helping the nation shape the american spirit: work hard, spend less, individualism, pursuit of happiness~~~ when i asked about how many years did the anti-Japanese war take? he confessed and wondered what anti-Japaneses war was.F-A-I-N-T!!! do you have any common sense ? in 1930s, the Japaneses troops invaded china. Chinese took 8 years to kick them out of our places. and when we shifted to us history, he answered "i don't like us history"! seriously !!! buddy, you MAJOR is H-I-S-T-O-R-Y. and now you told us you did not like it. ^_^
what's worse, never have found a living creature got a worse sense of direction than me. MATT got us lost twice. finally, he had to get a map to find the way back. answering questions and guiding burdened u. finally we figured out that maybe you could not doing two things at one time. hahah, just kidding!~~~
he tried his best! so happy and funny to have him around!

ok

OK! white flag! i was really freaking out by the length of Matt's comment. you really read carefully . first, i am not saying that you are ignorant. you are patient and thoughtful all the time. i quite appreciate that. undoubtedly, you are knowledgeable. second, i just wrote for fun. coz yesterday we really had an interesting adventure along with you. i just wrote things casually coming out of my mind. i do not have the position to judge or criticize. we just thought u were a funny guy. really hope u are not mad at me. ~~~~ besides, "lost in translation" is a wonderful movie which reflects the culture shock and misunderstanding between different countries. i really do not know anything about the moro war, banana war and the other big issues happened in the us without googling or doing some research. but do you know the Chinese famous poets Libai or Dufu. or can you just tell me your interpret ion about Confucius without relying on any study tool. see, this is the difference between different races and countries. but i am really willing to know something about the moro wars or banana war from you. tips: there is a chinese distinguished writer called Lin Yutang. he could write books in English. "a moment in peking", "my country my people" are his masterpiece. if you are interested in it, please check it out. ^_^

something else

i called mom last night. she is now reading my blog in order to keep informed. and she told me that she was so happy to see that i lead a quite nice life. yesterday sun yu and i went to the ukrop's. i guess we almost went 10 blocks to get those two heavy bags back home. and my toe was hurt by the flip-flop. never mind , no big deal. dan wei said the moment i saw you, i got the idea that you were born to be spoiled. "many people take good care of you and they are always willing to give you spoils!" dad once told me that i was not fit in studying overseas coz life was tough and lonely. if you are sick, nobody would know. but the truth is i really indeed can take care of myself. i cook , wash clothes, do the housework and live a peaceful life.
a couple of days ago, Brian took us to an party. a really party. at the party, we met an American philosopher who seemed to be very professional about china. and we had a heated discussion about china's economic development. we tried very means to explain confusicus to him. really hope he could understand it coz sometimes i even did not know what i was talking about. Brian is very knowledgealbe that he is very familiar with china's conditions and policies. he even asked "what's the biggest issue that our leader are facing now~~" he is really a superman. ^_^ last night, he took us to one of his friends' home. there was a cat called oscar. i like cats and dogs so so much. miserably, i am alergic to the furry. so when i got back to the dorm, i found that my eyes were all red. God blesses me!
really miss qiuyan so so much. i think i have to start wrting my final paper right now. :)

canal walk

on Sunday, we will be very busy. because matt forgot to inform hernan that we have already planed to his mom's. now we are assigned to another lady's. i have heard that this couple adopted a chinese child. so happy to see a familiar face in foreign country. hahahahah~~~ yesterday was funny. matt took us to the james river and we had a great time there. i decided to teacher him chinese. so surprised by his genuine pronunciations. he will be an chinese expert. when Brian said "nihao" to show off, matt immediately started counting the number in chinese. we all could not help laughing. two cute big boys.~ Matt shared some romantic stories with us. we all thought he was a playboy.hahahaha just kidding~~~

mama e-mailed me to keep me updated. i miss beijing so much. but leaving here seems to be a sad thing for me now. so many beautiful memories has deeply carved in my mind~~
