The Bb Course Copy feature (My Faculty Tools - Course Copy) has been changed to NOT copy Discussion Boards as of June 4, 2007 to the copied course. The new version of Blackboard was copying the postings from the original course to the new course.
We have a request into Blackboard to try to understand why this change occurred.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR BLACKBOARD DISCUSSION FORUMS IF YOUR COURSE WAS CREATED WITH THE “COPY COURSE” OPTION BETWEEN MAY 18 and JUNE 4, 2007. You are being sent this email because you either created or copied a course between May 18 and June 4 in Blackboard. If you created a course you may disregard this email. If you copied a course please read.
It has come to our attention that courses COPIED in Blackboard (Bb) between May 18 and June 4, 2007 (after the Bb upgrade) were copied with the postings from the copied courses discussion forums. Before the upgrade the discussion forums titles would copy and not the postings.
If you copied a course during this time frame it will be necessary for you to clean up the discussion forums or remove and re-add them to your course. In the immediate future, the Course Copy will not copy discussion forums. We have a request into Blackboard to understand why this change occurred.
Instructions
To Remove All Threads from Forum (will want to do this before current students start posting or this will delete their entries also.)
Click on Forum title
Click on GO next to Select All (bottom of forum screen)
Click on Remove (Top row of options)
OR
To Remove a Forum and Re-Create (This will remove the entire forum)
Remove entire Forum
Click on Discussion Board
Click Remove button next to forum
Create Forum
Click on +Forum (top of Discussion Board display)
Fill in details for the Forum and Submit
