That's true, dieting doesn't work because I'd say that to most people, a "diet" means a short term action you take to lose weight, followed by a return to their previous habits.

To accomplish not only weight loss but also to keep it off, you must make lifestyle changes as well as look at why you became overweight in the first place. If you do not heal the cause of your overweight, you are only putting a temporary band-aid on the symptom (your overweight) by employing diet and exercise.

This has been my experience, and I realize that it's not a quick fix and that it does take some work to examine the reasons you gained weight (i.e.: emotional eating, negative thinking, food abuse, food addiction, lack of nutritional knowledge, to name a few), however this is what is needed if you want to achieve lasting weight loss.

I love to talk about weight loss. Most people think all you have to do is stop eating to loose weight? That has never been the case for me. I agree that most FAD diets do not work (especially the Atkins since I have major qualms about that one). They impose extremely restrictive rules on ones diet that are completely unrealistic to maintain through ones entire life. However, i do think that dieting in terms of making small improvements in what one consumes for the purpopse of losing weight
