The news media report huge increases in birth rates among teens.

The leads in January 8th's newspapers about great increases in teen birth rates must be reviewed with caution. For the majority of states (including Virginia) the increases between 2005 and 2006 are less than 1%, after almost 15 years of decline. With a few exceptions this is a statistical change of little significance, and cannot be considered a trend until there are several years of data available that show that this year’s slight increases are continued..
