Kalgidhar Society sends aid to earth-quake ravished Pakistan&India... in the true spirit of Bhai Khaniya Ji

i thought today i'd actually post a serious Post on this blog...
WJKKWJKF,
As you all know a massive earthquake had hit Pakistan and Kashmir (the india side). Countless people lost their lives. The suriviors have also lost not only all their material wealth but also their loved ones. Most of the suriviors have lost everything... countless of not only Sikh, but Hindu and Muslim families have been gravely affected....

The aftermath is always one of the hardest things to do in such a casthrophic incident such as this, but this one is much harder because near the same time, The United States has also been hit by two hurricanes, as you know Wilma and Katrina have not been so kind to the the southern states of America... So much of the aid that was supposed to go to Pakistan and India is now being diverted to the US... Alot of the organizations are having a hard time reaching the area, inlieu of the bad roads and weather....

Well there is one organization that sent help, well not ordinary help, but sevadars to Tehsil Uri, Kashmir. That organization is the Kalgdhar Society aka the Akal Academy. Baba Iqbal Singh Ji was in Canada when the earthquake hit, but he found out about the condition of the area, through his students at the Akal Academy at Baru Sahib. A couple of the 1800 students there are actually from Tehsil Uri, Kashmir, and their families were directly affected. They actually contacted Baru Sahib, and asked if Baba JI would be able to send some relief to them because alot of the Aid , hasnt' been able to reach them, inlieu of the roads...

So Baba Ji right away told the sevadars at Baru Sahib to go help. So The Kalgidhar Trust sent about 200-300 sevadars/relief workers. Which included mason workers, engineers, carpenters, cooks, and many others... The Kalgidhar Trust is not only reconstructing gurdwaras, but also the mosque and the mandirs, that have been reconstructed. they are not only helping sikh familys but also Hindu and Muslim families...

Also you may all be wondering who Bhai Khaniya Singh Ji was.. He was a Chardi Kala Chela of Guru Gobind Singh JI. Chela means disciple, so what he did was that he was the carrier of water, and during times of battle he actually gave water not only to the Sikhs, but also the the enemy Muslim and Hindus. When sikhs found out about this, they were furious with him and immediately went to Guru Gobind Singh JI, and told him about this. Guru Gobind Singh Ji asked Bhai Khaniya Singh JI, why he did this. Bhai Khaniya Singh Ji responded "Oh Guru Ji, i don'tknow whats wrong with my eyes, b/c upon whoever i see, i only see you! I can't tell the difference between a sikh, muslim, or hindu, i only see you." Then Guru Ji embraced him and the angry sikhs, at once became humbled.

recap

well the BYOB meeting for USA was pretty good turn out, but somehow only 10 - 12 memebers showed up... apparently one reason for the low turn out was b/c there were was a mandatory "Security" floor meeting with the RA's going. i'm not too sure if those meetings are really that "informative", personally speakin' as a guard =)

i think we may have the next sikh club meeting on the 29th of Sept. around 6pm. so its not written in stone its just you know.. hovering around that date.

oh man so i guess i finally met Ms. Himat Kaur, its soo crazy this kaur has mad!! prem. Her story, of how Guru Ji Found her was simply beautiful... we were like whoaaa.... and everyone was amazed that she was wearing a Bana, - A Turban. well i guess she was wearing a female turban. she looked so beautiful in her crown!! yea!! i hope others will also be inspired by her, i know i was ;)

oh also my classes? they are going good. i really like my Intro to Sculpt class, that was fun.. hehe i'm workin on a "political" piece. i dropped my "Race, Religion, & Power" class, i'm sorry Mark, its just too much work. in my other classes...

its odd in my homeland security classes, i think the teacher , actually profiled me... i'm not to sure, but i did raise my concerns against the USA un-Patriot Act , grr he said something like," i didn't mean to say that the Arabs from the UK are from Pakistan... i meant to say the Muslims are" then he looked at me and said " I know you'd know the difference" (in a sarcastic or comical voice, and then he shot me a smile)

so i'm not to sure what to make of it.. its just really odd.
anyways
i've got merton to go to now... peace

The Journey of a Legal Observant...

Well this is kinda of old news... about 8 months old.... but I found it yesterday.... its still rather relavent. This Article which is on , was written by a friend of mine, Ms. Valarie Kaur, and her troubles with the NYPD. She was a legal oberservor, watch and record the actions of all law enforcement officers. The presence of legal observers helps keep people safe by discouraging police attacks. Also, the information you collect can be useful in criminal defense of protesters or in suing police or other government agencies. ,taken from
The Uhc-collective . Even thou she was one, she was still detained with the actvist. She speaks of her horrible treatment...
