On Monday, May 19th, at 9:30 p.m. on WCVW public television, a segment will be aired called "A Matter of Heart". This segment is part of VCU TV-HD's "Inside Out" program. The program is about Dr. Richard Lower, a highly distinguished physician scientist who was a faculty member at VCU for approximately 20 years as head of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Sheldon Retchin, M.D., M.S.P.H., Vice President for Health Sciences, VCU, Chief Executive Officer, VCU Health System, interviewed Dr. Lower, and the interview, with pictures and videos from the past, is part of the program. It is largely about the innovative work Dr. Lower performed, along with Dr. Norm Shumway, in developing the techniques that led to the world's first heart transplant. This program will be available on the following cable/satellite services: 24 on Adelphia/Comcast, 57 on DirectTV, 24 on Verizon Fios, and 9392 on DISH.
