VCU's 40th Anniversary Events

Throughout this fall, Virginia Commonwealth University will host a series of events celebrating its 40 years as a university.

  • Oct. 22 at 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Unveiling of historic markers on the MCV Campus
    A celebration recognizing the history of two of the MCV Campus markers — the Birthplace of Cardiac Transplantation and the St. Philip School of Nursing — with President Eugene P. Trani and Vice President Sheldon M. Retchin presiding.

  • Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. – Retired Faculty Council Reception
    Location: The Scott House, followed by a walk to the Van Winkle sculpture in the courtyard between Hibbs Hall and the Anderson Gallery
  • Oct. 24 at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. – University celebration
    Location: VCU Stuart C. Siegel Center
  • Oct. 24 at 4 p.m. – Black Education Association Reception
    Location: The Scott House
  • Oct. 24-26 – Fall Fest
    Location: Various locations throughout the university
  • Oct. 25 at 11:30 a.m. – Presentation of “Tableith”
    Alumnus Charles Ponticello, M.F.A. will present “Tableith,” a commemorative sculpture, to the RPI alumni.
    Location: The Scott House
  • Oct. 25 at Noon to 5 p.m. – Monroe Park Festival
    Location: Monroe Park
