last day in vcu

It’s the last day we stay in VCU. John, Brian, Terrence, Lisa, Ms Mei, Mr. Xue, and students from Fudan university, bye~ maybe it’s the only several days we can touch each other in our whole life.

I am a sensitive guy, because every abruption causes me low spirit for a long time.

~~

A worrisome person is like someone who works out on a stationary bicycle: he sweats like mad but never gets anywhere.

Wilde said:"everyone is born a king and most of people die in exile." It is constant self-compromising that leads to the embarrassing outcome and it is worrisome nature that causes so-called comprehensiveness that finally ends in self-comprimising.

This is what I've got after days of suffering.

Lin Yutang once wrote "in spontaneity along lies the true spitit of art". However, Witticism like this in my mind now, in spontaneity, lies the true spirit of achievements.

the gaps

These days, I am reading the “second generation”, which reveals the gap between different generations.

This reminds me of my misunderstanding to Stevens in the article—“the remains of the day”. There is the paragraph, "But that doesn't mean to say, of course, there aren't occasions now and then- extremely desolate occasions—when you think to yourself: 'What a terrible mistake I've made with my life.' And you get to thinking about a different life, a better life you might have had. For instance, I get to thinking about a life I may have had with you, Mr. Stevens. And I suppose that's when I get angry about some trivial little thing and leave. But each time I do, I realize before long—my rightful place is with my husband. After all, there's no turning back the clock now. One can't be forever dwelling on what might have been."(The remains of the day)

This passage, taken from the very end of the "Day Three—Evening,Devon" section, demonstrates Stevens's inner doubts about whether or not he has acted nobly, or with dignity, by unquestioningly accepting all of Lord Darlington's decisions. Stevens is trying to justify his actions not only to us, but to himself. If he were to admit that he was not actually serving someone with exemplary moral stature, he would have to admit that he made a mistake in which he chose to trust and serve for so long and with such diligence. But still, what I cannot understand is that why the guy so obstinacy. Maybe because different generation and different culture.

The visit to Brian's cousin's home--2

Something is wrong with my last page…55555555
A new entry!!

The B-B-Q is very delicious and we made sandwiches ourselves. I have to mention that Xie and Brian got two sandwiches each!!
After the meal at 4:30, Brian began to think about what to do next, movies or other activities? Finally, we decided to play pictioanary, which was a kind of card game and need us painting while the others guessing. When we were happily playing, there was the ring bell on the door. Delicious cookie was coming!

After the cookie, it’s time to go back to GRC. Thanks the Brians and brian.

The visit to Brian's cousin's home--1

Several days before, Brian has told us that he would bring us to his cousin’s home, where there were two dogs, two sons and one wife.
We arrived at his house after a long driving through the hollowness, although Brian missed the spot a little bit.

After the introduction, the old Brian and his younger son brought a lot of fruit to us, which were my favorite, but not the other three guys. And his wife and elder son were on their way back from the beach. So they went out for gun shot and I continued eating inside the house. ^_^ at the same time, the old Brian was baking for us, and a little while later, the hostess and the older son came back.
Oh my! So handsome boy instead of a round, cute kid like his little brother!

culture--a heavy topic

I have just read an article in fortune entitled China’s new Culture Revolution, which reveals a renewable version of Chinese in foreigners’ eyes.

these days, we are concentrating on the different cultures between china and America. but i found that many of the Chinese students tended to criticized and complained the Chinese nowadays situation. However, on the contrary, more and more Chinese elites find the attractiveness in our culture heritages while we know more about the world, and at the same time, just as Rui Chenggang put it: once, we are too eager to show we are a part of the world, but things are changing, we now need to preserve our own cultural heritage.

There are 3 examples that we should learn from.

Rui chenggang, the host of a nightly TV show called "BizChina”, and his endeavors to oust famous coffee chain Starbucks' store from the Forbidden City which has always been representing the ultimate power and glory of this county, set a good example to us.

And Zhang Lan, owning the most hip restaurant in China the Lan Club in Beijing, is founder of the successful South Beauty restaurant chain. Zhang said, "Chinese cuisine always had everything, nutrition- and taste-wise, but what was lacking was the packaging. People in China didn't know how to present it. I have changed that."

There's no clearer example of adapting to Chineseness than Yum Brands . Sam Su, president of Yum's China division, came up with the idea of fast-food Chinese restaurants and now has seven in Shanghai. "The sense we want to give people is that finally we have our own fast food."

But still, we have to admit that there are still some misunderstandings among the majority. Culture and heritage are so leaden for ordinary people, because they are not as fashionable as super girls or the price of the stocks. That is to say, we must make our culture and heritage fashionable if we can’t force the people to pay attention to the dull things. How to make them fashionable? That needs all the fashionable brands and fashionable celebrities to lead the way and then the majority can have more information through the threading.

Let’s bear in mind: Followers will not be paid respects, while uniqueness will.
