Fewer Brown Left Turns

The NY Times reports that UPS is using optimization to reduce the number of left turns their drivers make. You can listen to this story via NPR--fellow OR practitioner Jim Moore from USC is interviewed in this piece. I first read about the fewer left turns on a slashdot article, where whoever posted the article gave credit to computer science. Sadly, OR gets no glory!
