Newsday offers a 10-week paid internship (beginning in mid-June) designed for currently enrolled college students who are preparing for careers in print journalism. More than 40 art, photo, reporting, copy editing and other interns participated in 2005. One of the unique aspects of this program is that the interns are expected to perform as professionals and are ‘thrown into the arena,’� one reporting intern noted in evaluating his summer.
