Test Marketing- Arby's Restaurants

A national gourmet coffee company has signed an agreement with Arby's to be the premier coffee provider when Arby's open's their restaurants for breakfast nationwide.

Richmond is a test market because some of the investors live here. They are looking for interns to work the test marketing effort. The internships will be a great way to get introduced to account planning and to work on a national account.

Duties/Responsibilities:

•Assist with Public Relations function including creation and distribution of press releases as well as relationship management with local media contacts.

•Assist with Richmond.com promotional efforts such as trade shows, networking events, special movie screenings, and various partnership events with organizations such as the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce and Retail Merchants Association of Greater Richmond.

•Assist with the compilation and distribution of various marketing and sales reports each month.

•Assist with the communication between Richmond.com departments such as editorial and design.

•Assist in the creation and distribution of internal monthly marketing updates reflecting the activities of the marketing and sales department to the Board of Directors and other Richmond.com departments.

VHDA PR Internship

Overview:
The Public Relations Intern assists with the planning, development, and execution of communications plans; helps manage VHDA’s internal and external communications and image; and completes other public relations duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Available to work 15-20 hours per week minimum
Available for a minimum of 6 months, prefer twelve months
Must be enrolled in school during entire internship
Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better

Skills/Knowledge:
Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Internet Explorer

PR Internship Duties include:

Assist in the development and execution of plans, events, and activities that support VHDA communication goals and objectives.

Assist with the promotion of VHDA by writing articles, media advisories, news releases, or other documents deemed necessary for the successful completion of VHDA communications objectives.

Place calls to media to follow-up on news releases or other media contacts in an effort to secure coverage of a VHDA news item, activity, event, etc.

Research affordable housing articles and distribute them electronically to VHDA staff.

Work within a client-focused team setting, interacting with all departments within VHDA to get real-world experience and views of the collaborative nature of the business environment.

Other duties may be assigned. All duties should be executed in the spirit of PRSA
(Public Relations Society of America) professional guidelines.

Internship Work Duties
The public affairs intern will work with the CarMax Public Relations Manager, the CarMax Foundation Manager, and the New Store Marketing Manager. The public affairs intern will work on the following projects:

Public Relations

o Assisting with ongoing PR department projects: Writing and disseminating monthly “above and beyond� and staffing needs press releases, and assisting with the public affairs Web site.
o Assisting with media relations: Disseminate press materials for proactive local market PR programs and assist with follow up pitch calls to media who received press materials. Observing and supporting the Public Affairs Manager with interviews between CarMax experts and news reporters.
o Assistance on special projects: Research for media inquiries, proofreading documents, assisting with award entries.

CarMax Foundation

o Foundation Communications: Work with Foundation manager to create and coordinate materials for the Foundation Board. Copy and distribute board meeting books, schedule quarterly board meetings, regularly send articles of interest to Board and staff.
o Grants Management: Manage information and files pertaining to the CarMax Foundation grants program to ensure compliance with internal, legal and regulatory standards and policies.

The ideal candidate must have highly developed writing and editing skills and a passion for the mission of Karamah. Ability to write from a marketing and public relations point of view is a plus.
