Description:
• Assist with data entry and database upkeep.

Arnett & Associates Public Relations PAID Internship

Intern Responsibilities:
The right candidate will have a can-do attitude, an exceptional work ethic and great time management skills. You will be working on various projects fundamental to the day-to-day operation of an international speakers bureau. The ability to express yourself with the written word and also to communicate with prospective clients over the phone is essential. There is a great opportunity here to acquire some hands-on marketing and public relations experience with a growing international company. Successful interns will leave with credit and a great reference.

Intern Qualifications:
As mentioned, strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Interns may be asked to help develop and distribute press releases, collect and collaborate on promotional materials, assist our agents and support staff, and maintain correspondence with our speakers. College-level work in Journalism, Public Relations, Mass Communications, Marketing or similar work experience, is required.

The Tobacco Company Restaurant and Club- Public Relations and Marketing

Description of Organization:
The Tobacco Company Restaurant and Club is a full service restaurant and bar, holding the largest account in the state of Virginia for all things related to operating a bar/club. We are a unique four-story fine dining and entertainment venue housing the city’s number one dance club with a VIP membership base of over 1,000 people and growing, as well as a bar/cocktail lounge with live music from local and national acts Tuesday through Saturday. All marketing and promotions are done exclusively in-house with a full-time marketing director and supporting team, making us one of the only non-corporate restaurant/bar to have such a department.

Intern Responsibilities:
Interns will be required to work 10-15 hours per week. These hours will include office work in maintaining our online database, entering and updating new information as well as communicating via email, Myspace and in person with our target markets. They will be an active contributing part of meetings with liquor, beer and related product representatives, managers and other team members as we design future promotions. They will assist in developing campaigns to promote these events in-house, online and on-air. This part of their internship will require that they sit in and contribute to meetings with local and regional media; including radio, print and online. They will also aid in conception, development and execution of all promotions. This will include product development, writing press releases, ad content and design, database operations and mass marketing through all online sources and direct mail.

Intern Qualifications:
Intern must be at least 21 years of age, energetic, outgoing, creative and good with people. Intern must also have a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and online research.

Other:
Internships are available year round and are unpaid but rewarded through ancillary benefits. The Tobacco Company Restaurant is located approximately three miles from campus at 1201 E. Cary Street.

Broadcasting and Videography Internship - VCU Engineering

The VCU School of Engineering offers undergraduate and graduate programs in five different disciplines. We’re proud of our close-knit family atmosphere, extremely diverse student body, and a growing national reputation as a school for the student who thinks differently. We’re taking engineering to a whole other level by combining it with business, medicine and the arts to create an innovative approach to engineering education. In January 2008 we will open our Phase II expansion and begin construction on a 25,000 square foot state of the art collaborative research space connecting multiple University programs.

General job duties of Broadcasting/Videography Interns:

• Research and write news segments for video web feed

• Develop look and feel of segments to appeal to target audience

• Interview and select School of Engineering faculty members and others to appear in video segments

• Tape and edit video segments

• Manage production schedule for each shoot

Qualifications applicants should possess:

• Candidate should have strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work with computers or ability to learn software applications quickly

• Some familiarity with broadcast-quality video camera

• Ability to think creatively and work on deadline

Internship training includes:

• Conversational/broadcast news style writing

• How to write to create public interest

• Use of videography equipment
