GhostWriter-PAID INTERNSHIP

Position Open: GhostWriter (Student Internship)
Company: Next Level Consulting, LLC
Duration: June through mid-August
Hours: 20 hours per week
Locations: Mostly virtual work; Weekly meetings at Mechanicsville office
Compensation: $14.00 per hr. and guarantee of letter of recommendation based on results accomplished

Qualifications Required:
• College student-- rising junior or senior in Journalism, Marketing, Business, or Leadership-related area
• Copywriting skills – demonstrated ability to write and proofread articles/webcopy
• Computer skills – proficient in MS Word, Powerpoint
• Internet – proficient in research using search engines; demonstrated knowledge of websites popular with college-age
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and meeting deadlines
• Energetic, organized, and detail oriented
• Working knowledge of journalism and public relations is helpful

Qualifications Desired:
• Computer skills – proficient in Dreamweaver, PageMaker
• Business experience—previously employed in a minimum of 2 jobs—any type
• Minimum “B” grade in Mass Communications “Writing for Mass Media”; prefer interns who have taken Mass Communications “Feature and Article Writing.”

Tasks/Responsibilities:
1. Assist Consultant with authoring articles, book/s on business workforce issues
2. Transcribe recorded workshops into written documents for articles, book/s
3. Organize workshop materials into book manuscript
4. Develop manuscripts in Word and convert to PDF files
5. Internet research for content and marketing purposes

Deliverables by End of Summer/Results to Accomplish:
1. Completion of 5 articles from author’s outlines/notes
2. Transcription to manuscript (Word or PageMaker) from video of 1-2 daylong workshops
3. First draft of 1-2 book manuscripts (Word or PageMaker) from author’s notes/meetings

Responsibilities for the position include helping to run station events around Richmond, assisting the Promotions Directors with contesting and development of station marketing plans, establishing relationships with advertising clients and more! Being a part of the K95 and Mix 103-7 Street Teams is a great way to get into radio marketing and promotions as well!

MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER, ABLE TO LIFT 40 LBS OR MORE, AND HAVE A VALID DRIVING RECORD. This position is PART TIME.

Responsibilities:

1. Research Demand Response and Energy Programs and Services offered by other utilities and industries (for profit and not-for-profit) including, but not limited to, energy efficiency, green power, consumer aid programs, low income assistance, new and emerging technologies, fuel price projections and green collar jobs.

2. Research CFL light bulbs including, but not limited to, disposal capabilities and life cycle.

3. Research proximity and availability of retail businesses to Cooperative Members for purchase of energy efficient appliances and measures.

4. Compose white papers on all research conducted.

Qualifications:

1. Junior or Senior Mass Communication or English student.
2. Must be able to in-depth internet research with ability to document in a concise and cohesive fashion in a white paper format.
3. Knowledge of Office 2007 preferable.

Other:
This approximately 20 hours per week position is available for at least the Summer 2008 and Fall 2008 semesters. The position is located at Innsbrook Corporate Center, but the intern will be able to work at the VCU library or other such libraries up to 15 hours per week. Hours are flexible.

We are located near Broad Street about 10 minute drive from campus. We have our own show room in the office where clients can come and view our products.

Pay: $12-14/ hour

Public Relations: Candidate should be able to generate awareness for FrontLine Displays during the summer time as business slows down. Articles in the Richmond Times Dispatch Business Section and other publications, Email Newsletters, Direct Mail, and Website improvement are all options- but employer is also open to candidates ideas.
