Video and Graphics Internship
Description of Organization:
Housing Opportunities Made Equal of Virginia (HOME) has a singular mission: To ensure equal access to housing for all people. We believe that equal access to housing also guarantees equal access to safe neighborhoods, education, jobs, and wealth-building. 3. Lower concentrations of poverty
4. Reduce segregated housing patterns
5. Increase availability of affordable housing
6. Increase homeownership rates
7. Eliminate racial/ethnic disparities in homeownership rates
General job duties of Intern:
• Shoot video interviews of clients, staff, volunteers, board members.
• Edit video footage and create graphics using Adobe Premiere Pro or comparable software to create a 5-7 minute video for a Nov. 12th donor event.
• Shoot still photography
• Print and mount display photos with verbiage for Nov 12th event.
• Organize video footage into useable pieces for website upload to Vimeo, YouTube, etc. and e-mailable formats using Constant Contact.
• Help organize Annual Report photos and content and design in Abobe InDesign.
• Assist with radio and print initiatives surrounding a public education campaign including input to design of mailer, radio script writing, radio buying, and project management of printer, mail house, radio stations and voice talent.
• General office and project support for the Marketing & Communications Department.
Qualifications applicants should possess:
• Candidate should have strong organizational skills and self motivation to stay on task to meet non-negotiable event deadline.
• Experience in Adobe Premiere Pro or similar video editing software.
• Experience in Adobe InDesign graphic design software preferred.
• Ability to work as part of a team and take creative direction yet vocal enough tto advocate for your creative perspective.
• Ability to multi-task and have flexibility to adjust to ever changing priorities and timeline changes.
Internship training includes:
• Knowledge of the non-profit in-house marketing, donor and volunteer relationships and retention, special events, and culture of the non-profit sector.
• Portfolio builder by creating non-profit video, web, and print pieces.
• Real life application of your talent. You will produce tangible finished projects, not a case study or gopher intern. You will be in control of these major projects.
Hours are flexible, however 2 major deliverables are due by Nov 12th event with a 3rd deliverable due as time permits before end of semester.
This internship offers a $600 stipend to a qualified candidate.
