rss feeds-working smarter (Eddie & Melanie)
RSS stands for "really simple syndication" and is a collection of XML file formats. This technology allows teachers on the Internet to subscribe to favorite websites that have RSS feeds. Using an aggregator you can target the information you want from familiar websites and have updates come directly to you. On-stop-shopping for news updates on topics of personal interest, career resources and social sites. How many teachers do you know might benefit from maximizing their computer time? Search and surf smarter, not harder. Contribute two sites with RSS feeds in the comments to this post. Make sure to post links that might be of use to us as graduate students. (Topics might include general technology, art education, student teaching, SOA, funding and grants.....) Maybe go to www.bloglines.com and register.http://www.bloglines.com

I said this in class but, I don't really care for bloglines. I just don't like the interface.
I prefer NetNewsWireLite.
It is for macs only. It is free. It is awesome.
And yeah, some times I open it and it says I have 550 unread posts...but I don't let it stress me out because I've suscribed to all those feeds for a reason...and sometimes the posts are interesting and relevant and sometimes they aren't so much. But I'll never know the information if I stay cowering in the darkness of pre-RSS technology.
I mean, are you intimidated or stressed out by the number of books you haven't read in the library?! Do you avoid the library because there is so much stuff there waiting for you to read it? I don't think so...this is similar...you just read when you can...and skip the stuff that doesn't relate to your interests. No pressure!
