Update from AAM
Last week I was in Chicago at the American Association of Museums conference. It was fascinating - I love going to conferences when I learn all sorts of new things. At one session, they were talking about the concept of "Exhibit Remixing." This involves changing the musuem experience from being collections-focused to being visitor-focused. There were several examples offered relating to using Web 2.0 in different ways. One aspect is send-to-wiki and this will allow a user to make any web page into a wiki page so that you can then make a derivative work from it. Also, there is something else called the open ID. This would allow a user to take her profile with her from application to application. Evidently, it is at the stage where the decision will be made between VHS and Beta and no one yet knows if Open ID will be the one that takes off, but that is what it looks like now.
