Oops, it has been a while
It's so easy to get sidetracked with other responsibilities and to neglect this blog. But, there are so many exciting trends in Web 2.0 that are affecting education and Art Education. As of now, November 30, 2007, there have not been publications about Web 2.0 in Art Education. I enjoy the interactions that I have on ning in the Art Education 2.0 community. However, it still seems that we, as a field, have not started the discussion on Web 2.0 in the ways that we need to do so. What is it about educational reforms, and technology-oriented reforms that needs to take place for change to occur? It is a bit depressing at times to look at the historical literature on this topic. Larry Cuban (1986; 2001) wrote interesting books about the history of educational technology and noticed that there were few lasting effects and, in general, the technologies did not accomplish what they were intended to do to the field.
How can Web 2.0 be different from past trends in this way? Can it be different?
