Wow! Totally Useless and Totally Cool!

This YouTube video shows a new form of 'robot' that senses music and moves to it. It has better rhythm than I do! Could this be viewed as a form of art, or is it merely a gimick? How could this be used in a classroom (other than as a reward for good behavior)?
