300 lb. president

I do not think we would elect a 300lb president. Also, I do agree with Postman that charisma is more important in today's world. Though I would like to live in a time where intellect will trump "folksyness," the U.S. has a long history of anti-intellectualism and this will not die easily.

What do you mean by more important... do you personally think it is more important, or do you think that society thinks it is more important?

I think that society at large does not think about this. But, what gets through all the visual and aural "clutter" is a catchy phrase - "Yes we can" or something like that. It seems that it's now the politician's job to come up with catchy phrases to sell us the product of her/himself.
