Art Wii

Based upon our discussion from tonight, I'm wondering how using an art Wii (if one existed) could translate into any useful skills for artmaking in the physical world? Maggie's comment made it sound as if Wii games that involve physical activity move at a different pace than doing the activity in the physical world. Thus, if students could make Wii art, would there be any meaningful transfer? Or, is this a moot point? Using a mouse or table and working in PhotoShop does not have to have a correlated experience in the physical world to make it worthwhile. But, there is more to PhotoShop than merely play; it can be used to make art. Thought I found a Wii art group on Flickr , this is a bit different than what we were discussing tonight. Your thoughts?

I kind of cant believe people love their wii that much. I mean I do make cat art so I should keep those opinions to myself. Anyway the best "Wii art" on the Flicker page, I thought, we the ones where they photographed the consol moving in the dark.

I am not sure if “wii art” would have much educational value over traditional painting. The play factor is always great but is traditional painting not fun anymore?

Technology such as voice command and retina sensors (?) have the possibility of giving some people a creative and play outlet that they might not normally have.

It's great to see the hacks around the WII console. Even homebrew is possible now.
