Time Studio Final

Today I presented my final project in Time Studio. It went pretty well I think and I’m happy because, unlike most projects I do for that class, I was actually kind of excited about this one.

Our only criteria for the project were that it had to be interactive and use one or more of the media we’ve worked with before this. I chose to project footage I put together of birds flying onto a large piece of paper and whenever someone wanted they would tell me to pause the video. At this point they had three minutes to draw or paint the bird or birds on the paper. I laid out watercolors, sharpies, colored pencils, colored pens, crayons, and markers for everyone which I think they really enjoyed. I also played some bird and nature noises in the background to help set the mood.

We only had time for five people to go but even so the piece started to look very cool. Here is a close up of the part people started drawing.

One downside to the project was that one girl in the class gave me a very hard critique. This wouldn’t bother except that what she said didn’t really make any sense, and she does this all the time. In fact people were getting really mad at her in class because she did the same thing to both of the people that went after me. During the second person the student looked like she was tearing up and I finally told her she was bordering on offensive to shut her up. Even though she made a valid point she used language that was rude, like “crappy,” and would not drop the topic even after her point had gotten across.

The worst part though is that our teacher was defending her, and though, like I said, she had made a few valid points, I’m worried that she’s put ideas into his head that will end up affecting our grades negatively.

Anyway, I hope there is a way to put up the project again and let more people draw on it. My teacher said he could meet me later this week to do it, but with finals coming I have a lot of project piling up that need attention first.

I also have video of everyone drawing but the file was too large to upload and both Face Book and YouTube are freaking out on me. So if you want to see it just ask me and I’ll show it on my laptop.
