Dr. McCain featured in research publication

Dr. Nancy McCain is featured in the Spring issue of VCU Across the Spectrum, the university’s research publication. The article focuses on Dr. McCain's cancer research, which is conducted in collaboration with other VCU researchers. Specifically, the team is examining the effectiveness of stress management techniques on women who have been diagnosed with early breast cancer and who are undergoing chemotherapy.

Dr. Cindy Munro selected as Harris-Machester Fellow

Dr. Cindy Munro, a professor in the VCU School of Nursing Department of Adult Health and Nursing Systems, has been selected for Oxford’s Harris Manchester College 2008 Summer Research Institute.

During her visit to Oxford this summer, Dr. Munro will examine the responsible conduct of research in the area of obtaining consent in critically ill subjects, examining and comparing legislation and attitudes of the United States to those of other countries.

Congratulations to the Class of 2008

On May 16, more than 140 School of Nursing graduates and their families and friends gathered for the annual School Recognition Ceremony. Students and faculty celebrated the momentous occasion with smiles and a few tears.

School supports the 2008 Race for the Cure

On May 10, the VCU School of Nursing's Department of Adult Health and Nursing Systems participated in the 2008 Susan G. Komen Richmond Race for the Cure. Dr. Anne Boyle organized the department team which included three cancer survivors. The race participants thank everyone who generously supported the team and the search for a cure.

School welcomes Cosby High School students

On May 2, the VCU School of Nursing hosted students from Cosby High School's Health Sciences Specialty Center. The visit is part of a health careers exploration class offered jointly through VCU and Cosby High School. During their visit, VCU School of Nursing faculty and students helped participants create health promotion posters, practice venous blood draws and experience a hypoglycemia simulation using Sim Man.
