VCU nursing student to receive George C. Marshall Award

According to Michala Smith, from the VCU View:

Cadet Joanna Klein, a senior in Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Nursing, has been chosen to receive the George C. Marshall Leadership Award, which is presented to the top Army ROTC cadets in the nation.

Virginia Doctoral Nursing Student Loan Assistance Repayment Program

This fund will provide loans to full-time graduate nursing students who are accepted to or enrolled in a doctoral nursing program in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The purpose of this program is to increase the number of nursing faculty by providing doctoral students with financial support for doctoral study. Additionally, this program will assist Virginia nursing schools to recruit and retain new nursing faculty and enable them to increase enrollments.

These programs, represent a partnership of public and private doctoral granting schools in the Commonwealth and are: George Mason University, Hampton University, the University of Virginia, and Virginia Commonwealth University. All nursing schools in the Commonwealth will benefit from this program, as upon graduation, recipients of these loans must assume faculty positions at any nursing school in the state that prepares Registered Nurses.
