Curve Ball Redux
Today, May 10, 2006 word came in an email from an official at Fudan University in Shanghai that they have begun the process to invite me to be an exchange teacher there. The curve ball from life came last December when I was asked if I would be interested in going to China to teach for one year. There it was, out of the blue, a pitch that I had not anticipated and that, if taken, would uproot the comfortable life I have carved out here in Richmond, Virginia.
My eventual answer, 'yes,' has led to the excitement I feel today on receiving word that the wheels are set in motion to make this a reality.
