A visit to Brian's friend's home (US life)

Yesterday, Brian invited us to his friend’s home to see a movie. We first asked for our teacher’s admission and then we decided to go there. It was just a few blocks away on the compass.
We walked there and I had a small talk with Mathew about bars here. He is a very talkative person and kind-hearted. Through him, I realized I had some misunderstandings towards the bar here. That was culture difference and everyone couldn't avoid it. Actually, Mathew and Brian took us to a bar yesterday. I found it was quite different from what I thought of the bar. It was like a kind of restaurant actually. For I couldn’t stand the smell of smoke there, I just went back to the dorm.
After my roommates came back, they told me they had a conversation on sex. It was such a sensitive topic in China, I was surprised. They felt a little embarrassed at first and then they just opened the topic. Their views were quite different from what we knew before.
Then, we went to Brian’s friend’s home. They were all friendly, preparing food for us. They rearranged the sofa for us.
To our surprise, they showed us a movie of ‘Protector ’, whose theme is elephant protection. The movie was a little bit funny, which means it was like what we saw in Li Xiaolong’s time----Kongfu. Mathew seemed tired and he kept dozing during the movie. Some of them seemed not to follow the plot, so they couldn’t enjoy it. Since I have seen too many TV programs, it was easier for me to follow.
Elephants looked very cute in the movie, but in reality, they are dirty and smelly. I don’t like them.
There were two cats in the room and they frightened me a lot. I am always afraid of animals and don’t know the reason.
We didn’t finish the movie, for we must go back to dorm on time.
