Hello,

I'm Ike Wood, M.D. and I will be your Project Manager for the Curriculum Under Construction webpage. I hope you will visit the page and read the blog frequently as new information is posted.

First, I'd like to give you a brief walk through of the webpage to make it easier for you to navigate.

On the home page, you will find the results of three faculty and two student focus groups. Through qualitative analysis, eight major outcomes were identified for our graduates. These will serve as a compass for the development of the new curriculum.

The menu on the left side of the home page links first to the committees involved in the curriculum renewal: the Curriculum Planning Committee; the Curriculum Evaluation Committee; and the committee for Faculty and Instructional Development. Click on any of these links and you will be able to see committee membership and reports.

The next item on the menus is Faculty Development. Click on this item and you will find a listing of all past and upcoming activities to assist faculty as new forms of educational pedagogy and course design are taught. Many have links to the powerpoints used in the presentations.

The New Building Planning link will give you up-to-date information about the architects, construction managers and the actual development of the School of Medicine building. Also, you may view reports about off-site visits to other medical schools that have used education space creatively.

Finally, there is a link to resources. This will keep you informed about books, articles or other media that will be helpful as we develop the new curriculum.

Again, I hope that you will read the blog and respond so we have an ongoing discussion about creating the best curriculum possible for our medical students.
