Reeling in Phishing Scams

Phishing Scam... We all know they are out there; we probably each get multiple ones a week. They've become a usual, often chronic event in our daily lives, but there are some ways to handle them. Visit the Technology Services Security Website: http://www.ts.vcu.edu/security/student.html#Phishing_Scams for more information on verifying and handling phishing emails. Additionally,, before deleting the message, the user can report the phishing scam directly to the company involved. For example last week there were some obvious scams involving Amazon. To report the user would forward the email they received to Amazon's Customer Service: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/15835501/104-4292785-8755905. The occurrence can also be reported to the anti-phishing workgroup - http://www.antiphishing.org/.
