eID & Other Online Services Unavailable Thursday Morning

The service that uses eID to authenticate and allow access to various online system such as myVCU portal, Banner, Blackboard, eServices, VCU MailAnywhere, and others will be unavailable on Thursday morning, March 1, from 5:30 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. Access to these systems will not be possible during this time. Please contact the Technology Services Help Desk at 828-2227 or help@vcu.edu should you have any questions. Thank you.

Scheduled Maintenance - E-Mail Servers

Scheduled maintenance will be performed on the E-mail system Saturday, March 3, between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. During this maintenance window, access to e-mail may be unavailable on your primary server. Access to your e-mail via your alternate server should be available automatically when accessing through VCU Mail Anywhere, or via your alternate server using an IMAP connection or the Notes client.

Student E-Mail Server VRAM2 Unavailable

E-mail Services is working to bring VRAM2 back on-line. Students can connect to their alternate IMAP server, vramimap2c.vcu.edu, or should be automatically redirected via a web browser through VCU Mail Anywhere.

ePhones Update For Week of Feb. 26

Technology Services begins installation of the university's new phone system in the Pocahontas and Robert Blackwell Smith buildings this week. Occupants of these buildings may click here for information regarding training sessions or to download training materials. If any problems should occur after installation, dial *90 or 827-8353 for assistance.

VCUCard Upgrade Takes Place March 13 - 15

VCUCard will be performing a system upgrade on March 13 - 15. During this time we will be unable to issue any VCU ID's. In addition CSVT's, pay-for-print stations, copiers, laundry, turbos, Verifones, bookstore interface, off campus merchants and vending machines will not be available for meal plans, RamBucks, School of Business Pay for Print, Dining Dollars, Housestaff, or Pediatric debit plans.

Help Desk Updates Online Support Center For Daylight Savings On Monday

The Technology Services Help Desk will update the online Help Desk Support Center today, Monday Feb. 26, at 9 p.m. to get ready for the new Daylight Saving Time dates that goes into effect on March 11. The online Help Desk Support Center will be available after these patches have been applied. If you require assistance please contact the Help Desk at 828-2227 until 10 p.m. tonight. The Help Desk will re-open at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. As always, feel free to contact the Help Desk by sending an email to help@vcu.edu.

Self-Service Banner link from Portal is now working

The Self-Service Banner link from the Portal is now fully operational.

Blackboard problem corrected at 11:00am Feb 26, 2007

Blackboard is experiencing a problem with the roster update this morning and students are not seeing their courses listed in Bb. The problem is being corrected and should be fixed shortly. A message will be posted when the problem is resolved. Thank you for your patience.

Daylight Saving Time Changes For 2007

Daylight Saving Time (DST) is being extended by 4 weeks starting this year. It starts 3 weeks earlier and ends one week later under provisions of the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005. This is the first nationwide change to the DST schedule in approximately 20 years. This DST change can affect everything from you computer to your thermostat to your watch. Chances are that if your VCR still has that blinking 12:00 for the clock it will not be affected too much. Click here to find out more about how this change affects you. Banner Unavailable Friday, Feb 23, Beginning at 6 p.m.

The Banner systems (Banner INB Forms and Self-Service Banner) will not be available starting at 6:00 pm on Friday February 23rd and Friday March 2nd; user access should be restored approximately 3 hours later, 9:00 pm each Friday evening. Database upgrades and final maintenance for this year's change in Daylight Savings Time will be applied. The ODS and Web Report Studio will also be unavailable due to maintenance on Friday February 23rd from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

Oak E-Mail Server Unavailable

E-mail services is working to bring the Oak faculty/staff e-mail server back on-line. Users should connect to their alternate server automatically from the Lotus Notes client software or use their alternate connection to Aspen via an IMAP client.

University’s Phone System Experienced Temporary Loss of Service

We apologize for any inconvenience that occurred this morning when the university’s phone system was inadvertently rebooted during a problem-solving session. One of our vendors was working on an open ticket when he accidentally entered in the command to reset the system. At this time all of the telephones should be back on line. If you are still experiencing any problems, please call *90 for assistance.

E-Mail Server Oak2 Unavailable

E-Mail Services is working to bring Oak2 back on-line. Users should fail over automatically to Aspen2 via the Notes client or connect to their alternate IMAP connection on Aspen2.

Banner Updates May Slow System Friday after 4 p.m.

Response times in the Banner system may be longer than normal Friday afternoon due to a large data load that is set to begin at 4 p.m. This process should be completed around 11 p.m. Friday night. Please bear with us as work continues in preparation for the Banner Student module to come online this spring for fall 2007 class registration.

Reminder: Students must change their eID password to meet the strong password requirements that have been established at VCU. Click here to learn more about these requirements. To change your password right now click here and log into the eID Manager. Don't forget to set your Challenge Questions. If you forget your password these questions may save you a trip to the Technology Services Help Desk.
