eID Disruption May Cause Login Issues

A problem with the eID system may cause problems for users who log into many online resources at VCU. Not all systems are affected and if a user has already logged into a system such as Mail Anywhere they should be fine as long as they stay logged in. VCU Computer Center staff is working to correct the problem. If you have any questions please contact the Technology Services Help Desk at 828-2227.

Scheduled Maintenance - E-Mail Servers

Scheduled maintenance will be performed on the E-mail system Saturday, November 3, between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. During this maintenance window, access to e-mail may be unavailable on your primary server. Access to your e-mail via your alternate server should be available automatically when accessing through VCU Mail Anywhere, or via your alternate server using an IMAP connection or the Notes client.

Update (3:25 p.m.) - Banner Self-Services and Production Modules Now Available

Update (3:25 p.m.) - Access to the HR & Fiscal modules of Banner is now available again. Thank you for your patience.

Update (2 p.m.) - Banner self-services for students, faculty, and staff have been restored. Administrative services (HR/Fiscal) are still being worked on and are not available at this time. More information will be posted when available.

Banner Self-services and production modules were taken out of service as of 12:45 this afternoon (Oct. 26, 2007) due to issues with two key data tables. This means there is currently no access to student or employee self-services as well as administrative personnel and fiscal functions. We expect the system will be down for at least two hours. Additional information will be posted as it comes available. Please contact the Technology Services Help Desk with any questions at 827-2227.

Daylight Saving Time Extends To Nov. 4 But Be Ready Oct. 28

Just a reminder that the Daylight Saving Time (DST) end-date was moved this year from October 28, 2007 to November 4, 2007. Microsoft released an update in January of this year to address the DST rule changes for the dates that DST went into effect and issued an additional update in August 2007. Apple issued an update earlier this year that patch their systems and the company has not indicated that any additional patches are needed at this time. If automatic updates has been turned on or systems have been manually patched on a regular basis no additional action should be required. However, if the automatic software update service is not enabled or if manual updates have not been regularly applied to a system it is important that this is done prior to October 28, 2007 as not doing so can disrupt various calendar dependent services.

Monroe Park Campus power outage

There is a major power outage on the Monroe Park Campus due to a transformer failure. Numerous buildings are affected, particularly along Franklin street and parts of Grace and Broad streets. Network and telephone connectivity is not available in the affected areas at this time.

Service is not expected to be restored until at least 4:30pm.

Blackberry Server Maintenance Completed Successfully - October 6, 2007

The Blackberry Server underwent a successful hardware and Blackberry Enterprise software upgrade on Saturday, October 6, 2007, between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
