IRS Phishing Scam Email

Some members of the VCU community may have received an email with the subject line of "Tax Refund". This is not a legitimate email from the IRS. Form the IRS website:

"The IRS does not initiate taxpayer communications through e-mail. In addition, the IRS does not request detailed personal information through e-mail or ask taxpayers for the PIN numbers, passwords or similar secret access information for their credit card, bank or other financial accounts."

If you did receive this email, delete it immediately and do not open or view any attachments. Please contact the Technology Services Help Desk with any questions or concerns about phishing scams such as this one. Thank you.
