Practice Module Update

Turns out the practice modules may or may not be Wenger. The manufacturer may depend on the bidding process. I believe in the end, the product will be of exceptional quality and serve our needs very well.

Take a good long look at this recent photo of the rear of the James W. Black Music Center. Long awaited renovations starting soon will make this a image history. Thankfully.

Utilities Labeled

Note the markings on the ground around the Music Center. The utilities have been identified. Just another confirmation that construction will begin soon. There is no stopping Monday from coming. Will let you know when the project goes out to bid. If I can I will provide a link to the bids.

Singleton Entry

A beautiful day at the entrance to the W. E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts.

Practice Modules

Spoke with John Gass, VCU FMD person in charge of planning the renovation project, yesterday. The provost's office and planning are combining resources to purchase twelve of the Wenger practice module's. This is great news. The modules will be used in a temporary site during renovation and then moved to the renovated building. The four remaining small student practice rooms specified in the planning document will be constructed with standard construction materials.

According to Harold P. Geerdes in his book "Music Facilities: Building, Equipping, and Renovation" an institution that places an emphisis on practicing on site, like the university should provide one room for every twenty students.

Graffiti Issue

Tody I entered the lobby mens room in the Singleton center at 12:30 and noticed many large, new graffiti tags. By 1:30 facilities had responded to my request and removed all the markings, preparing the restroom for tonights high profile event. Thank you FMD, great job done.

Under Construction (No pun intended!)

Cold Call

Today, at 10 am I receive a call from facilities management. She was checking to see if I had any events this weekend. Wintery weather has been forecasted. In the event we have some perfomances scheduled, she wanted to be certain that the area around the buildings was clear. Can you spell unprecedented outstanding service?
