basketball games

statistics of games i played with local guys (40points win)

scoring three-point shot percentage field goal rebound assist blocking turnovers
game1 0 0/2 0/4 2 0 0 2
game2 9 3/4 3/4 2 0 0 0

i was making progress....i felt great at the three-point line where i gained confidence....however it is still hard for me to defense the black guys and to score in the paint.meanwhile the black players are just amazing, double pump,fade-away shot, fast break, even dunk....they were just playing a easy, smooth and gorgeous ball games which widen my horizon....

a great home visit

on saturday morning, billy and i were invited by a couple and their two little girls to visit their home.after passing through several peaceful paths, we entered a nice residential suburb and stopped in front of a two floored red and white house surrounded by trees and plants.this
couple adopted two little girls Lucy and Emma from china.two little spirits are very lovely and pretty.and the pet Sydney is a big white dog who is gentel and friendly.i fondled him and was responsed by shaking the head and waging the tail.

most impressively, i really like the atmosphere when we had dinner just like enjoying a traditional american family party at weekend.lights were turned off and were replaced by candles above the table.the food is dilicious including beef, salade and corns....

they are really good as conversationist, our topic range from iraq war to traditional chinese food, from american policies to the use of knives and forks.we really had a nice time together i think.

impression on richmond

richmond is not a metropolis at all.always watching large cities of america like New York and Chicago on television, i find a new style of american cites after i came here.richmond give me a brand new impression on the american cities that is quite peaceful and undisturbed. people lead a tranquil life here and really enjoy their life in the countryside.there are no big shops here, and the only industry here is tobacco.camparing with my homeland shanghai the life here is even more boring.
the traffic system is not good here. everytime we wanna go out we have to ask inturn students to take us. maybe american perfer the feeling of independence and freedom so u cant even see a taxi on the street.
we had a bus tour around the downtown area one week ago. there are only few people on the road, but it is clean and in perfect or apple-pie order....i like this feeling which i never found in china.

basketball

basketball is one of my favorite sports, and i was once a player in our high school basketball team. however in the united states, the kingdom of basketball,i feel everything is not the same.playing with the black people whose phisical quality is much better than mine,i feel the ball is no longer my good friend cause the ball always jumped into the opponents' hand and was totally out of my contronl.it is really hard to play with them for the huge gap in our phisical qurlity.
beside the great quality of the opponents, the other thing make strong impression is the great facility in the gym.good illumination, wooden floor, and even a restroom....

williamsburg

actually i dont much like this place. i totaly cant feel the breath of 18th century.the buildings are fake the streets seemed to be repaved. i cant resonate with what i see just like when i was visiting some other historical sites before.
the only thing comfort me was the sandwich store called "friday light "(if memory serves me) where i find my favirate taste of sandwich with a mixture of sauce that i can't name it and tuna fish.

in the seafood restaurant

the restaurant which is near the virginia beach is the most appropriate place to have dinner expect for the junk food restaurant like subways or kfc etc. because of its special offer of steak and the attraction of seafood. the squid there was wonderful and crab was the opposite.interestingly they were all cooked in the way we never see before.
the price is really high and none of us knew how to give tips to the waiter. i put a 5doller paper bills in the plate the waiter give me with my visa. after that i received a bill which has a column called "tips" and the waiter asked me whether the paper bill is for her curiously. then i realized the corect way of paying tips. it is really an interesting experience for me.

la tour de virginia beach

it is a nice beach and fortunately it is a nice day today. it is my first time to try vollyball on the beach. and i feel good to throw myself on the sands to save a ball although it seems to be kind of awkward. the sandy beach is soft it is comfortable to have a close touch with the ground.
billy basked in the sun with happiness and searched for the beauties in the same time, however ,got burst in his back....poor guy....god blessing....

a visit to the local MTG store

MTG (magic the gathering) is a card game which i have playing it for several years in China. However, because of its high price and complicated rules, it is not popular in SH. Only few people know it and less than 200 people play it in shanghai. So it's my dream to play the game in USA,the place where the game oriented and has a large population of the MTG fans.

Friday afternoon, my dream came ture. With the help of intern students, i found a MTGstore not very far from the school and had the chance to play several games with local people.Comparing with the competitive format i played in China, the local people chose a more casual way which i've never knew before: 6 people sit arround the table and play his/her own deck. The other players seemed to be old friend so i was not accutomed to the rules at first, so i lost several games, but that'is not important, i had fun, that enough...

disapointed

I am a mtg fan.Actually I have been playing it for several years.Mtg(magic the gathering) is a kind of card game, some like bridge cards but not use poker with no relation to magic... Before I came here, I expect for seeing the local mtg store, changing cards or if lucky getting some signitures from the painters i like.
But now i am really disappointed.i asked several intern student, only one or two them had heart about it not to say playing it.actually, they prefer star war games which i think is childish.
finally i search the internet, and find a number of the local store. it mainly sells cromix and mtg count is just in the corner.however i am still looking forward to the trip there...

something WRONG?

I've been here for two days so my blog could no more then be summarized in one sentence.
So I decide to add one: it is another good day here!
And special thanks for Matt cause when I was lost arround the nearby church, fortunately I saw him walking towards me, smiling and waving. In this unfamilliar surroundings, it iwas so good to have such an ORACLE pointed out a bright way leading to my "deatination".
Today we had a bus tour arround the richmond city.i will share something interesting with you tomorrow.
to all the visitors attacted by the title:there's nothing wrong it's just for your attention, thank you.
