“All man are born equal” may be the most inspiring sentence in the Declaration of Independence 1776. Jeffeson failed to mention the other half of the history creator, woman. In “his-story”, women were often neglected delibrately or unintentionally. As one of my English teacher said, women were dominant by the man from the existence of language. Meanwhile, he predicted that women will by no mean get the same right and status as the man even from the biological reasons., with no exception in anywhere on the world.

American have always been contradictory represented in various aspects down to the root. Jeffeson and other leader, like Geoge Washington, declaimed they would liberate the slaves while owned hundreds of slaves working for them in their private farms. Americans seek democracy and are proud of that while they admire the noble hierachy replicating the English gentleman. American hope to vote for a man from the base of the mass from all walks of life which can truly represent the idology of republic while the presidents have been elected tend to be the top class of the society. Complicated and amazing as the American Dream, something is just too fancy to carry out. Like we all expect to be enviromental friendly while we are still trash the world.

● Dr.Ted said that the North people enbarked the Civil War due to the ideology conflicts with the Southen states.

I doubt that how can people fight for an unrealistic ideal concept that human should be equal,which was even regarded ridiculous that time. I don’t think this interpretation was strong enough to explain how the north leader managed to motivate and persuade people to follow their flag and directions. It could be extremely hard to convince people initially, not mentioning the difficulty that they were going to devote their blood and loyalty to the war. Similar case happened in 1910s China as well, Sun zhongshan, who was a pioneer start the 1911 Revolution seeking ways to bring democracy and science development,into old conventional feudal China. Of cause on the theoritical level it surely was a great action, but it doomed to fail because the prerequisite, the enlightment of the people. And to the most ordinary people, what he was assuming about was just a dream too fancy to realize.

● About Abreham Lincoln, excuse me for being skepital and mistrust about a lot of people’s intention, like Americans from 1960s. Will the life experience that Lincoln got though which I believe is surely not that easy have great impact on the decision of standing for rights of African American? Is the fact that he was a self-made man who suffer a wind stair reaching the White House that makes him feel sympathy for the black? Is his extremely humble background of family, compared to the former presidents of the America, urged him that unless the discrimination was eliminated otherwise he would be the target of teasing and degrading all the time, no matter how high the road he was taking.

● In the lecture afternoon, I noticed that when came to the Cold War, Dr. Tim used a sentence “ Russia did blah blah blah, and United States was not very happy about that.” This is quite interesting expressions in my dimmension.

Let’s compare the relationship between America and Russia in the Cold War with the relationship between China and Japan, beyond all question that it is not totally equal. When we talk about Japan especially they did something really annoying, we would like to use the words like indignent, protestant, etc, but we seldom carry out actual actions. America seems to be very gentle on the toungue, but they can be extremely violent if they are pissed off. So here is the intensely interesting culture difference between the two nation, China tends to be hard on lips but soft in acts while America tends to be soft on the lip but quite tough and dangerous in acts.

Difference and equality are two things on two different levels. Some people use the words to lead to the mass’s misunderstanding of discrimination and find good excuses for some forms of segregation or exaggrate the gap between perspectives.

China and USA are different.
Black and white are different.
Man and woman are different.
They are just different, not opposed necessarily, not collided ineviably as well.

Amerian won’t understand the tense issue about human rights situation in China;
Chinese people won’t adapt to the open way Americans used to express themselves;

American can never endure or even imagine the life of chinese have so many forbidden area-the restrict freedom;
Chinese can never enjoy the freedom feeling ease and justified as the american does, even we have the conditions, we may still feel insecure;

American may never accept the notion of hierachy that people are born devided into several grade while they have slavery;
Chinese may not have the enlightment of the massive awaken that regard people are definitely equal from time immemorial while they are known as a state of ceremories;

They don’t need to be recognized or unified, they just need to be respected. That’s what they called civilization.

back from the planttutam, i am thinking about it seriously. i hate to admit, but sometime it maybe the truth.

People rarely have chances to observe the sea at night. Arrive at the beach at 9pm approximately, gentle breeze mingled with the aroma of tranquil whip the face, kicking up the hair, creating an atmosphere for people to indulge in the reveries about the future, lost in the wild and fanciful or maybe passive thoughts about life, humanity and nature.

I like sea, keenly, like many other people. Ocean always has a great power to let the sparkle of the mind be lit leading to abstruse philosophy. There was a great man standing by the Aegean called Mr. Socrates; there was a great man enjoying looking into the deep azure sky and seeing all the star glittering placed a milestone in the interpretation of the astronomy, his name is Galilei. The sky and the sea really motivate people’s impulse to start the journey of adventuring in the utterly unknown.

Will the horizontal is the end? What’s outside the space? Is what we seeing real?
There is a Chinese proverb saying that “When things reach their limit, they are forced to bounce back." So many history buried million years ago left thousands of mysteries unsolved, was that time the peak of human society? We don’t know.

Human is just too small a product made by God or we can say nature million years ago, thus is too arrogant of having been regarding themselves the most intelligent creature dominating the planet. We tried to solve everything we met with-we come, we conquer, we are proud of that. Nevertheless, in the eyes of nature, it may be just a joke.

For about 2 days, we have the lectures discussing the political structure differences between China and US. Honestly, I myself didn’t have a great time, sometimes I feel unhappy about some biased opinion conveyed by the professor.

There exists no system that is genuine democracy after all, even the system of USA. So-called “of the people, for the people, by the people” government started off in USA and have flooded onto the globe everywhere; every government regards their legislation given by the people. Nevertheless, here is a question prompted for years, what politician on earth really cares?

The president of America is elected by the number or in other words, the impact of the consortium he can collect during the champion. In return, he will formulate some laws to benefit those people when he takes off the presidency. How can this be called “for the people”?

American government tends to play a role that is judged by its people and media avoiding criticizing, thus their decision is passive to a great degree while Chinese government tends to decide where is the country heading to in order to improve people’s living standard, thus they are Initiative. But the corruption and flaw exist amid the system everywhere as well. There are always leaders in the highlight we admired a lot who turned out to pursue their own interests. I am not saying that one is superior to the other. It seems that two of them are in the stage that cannot be dodged to get though during the development of any nation, advanced or not.

Of the people, by the people, for the people? It’s just not that simple, I believe.

on our way to POE museum, i told Eric that i was almost drained at the blog staff. and he advised me not to take t too formal. so i think it's time for casual. >_<

the most embarass thing happened today is that i fell asleep for couple of minutes during the session this afternoon. i felt awful while i am exhausted. tomorrow i will take a starbuck with me entering the classroom

we went to maymount today !!!!!:) fabulous! i love it. thank to Brian. n_n

and today the meeting wth stephenie is so pleasant. she recommended us to go to a mexican restaurant and the quantity of the food is sooooooooo large. i have to share a great portion with emily, depart of that, the taste is good.

yesterday i used oven to bake some potatoes. things went quite well. so i wll go to buy some beef tomorrow, try to cook some meat in the oven, hopefully it will success:)

yesterday we went to monticello and charlottesville downtown. due to shortage of the time, we had barely no preparatio about the interest attraction we were going to. until the moment we got off the shuttle, we were aware of the fact that this is a place as Mao's house he used to live in.

the house is marvelous although the design sometimes hard to get. the architecture itself looks spacious while inside the building is comparatively small. maybe the feeling has something to do with the fact that chinese architecture tends to be magnificent, gorgeous, and broad in scale. however, the preservation of the house was impressive. no touh signs everywhere, causious everywhere, no offensive, to visitors from a country like China, they looks like making a fuss over a trifle, a 200-hundred-years-old building really cannot mention in the same breath with cities of 5000-years history.

what left a deep impression is the barrier beside the main house where Thoms Jefferson's whole big family lived in. the barrior is where a lot of slaves working in, with astonishing large-size cellars for wine and beer, which reflected the funny contradiction of the fact the man librate the whole nation owned a great number of slaves.

if we have to elect a most boring time during our stay in Amrican, the answer is definitely the afternoon in the charlottesviile downtown.

the moment we got off the bus, we were all wondering what should we do next sleepy. informed the next 2 and half hours was arranged to hang around in the "downtown", we were like "oh my god, this cannot be serious!". the shock woke us thoroughly.

then, in the next 2.5 hours we wandered meaninglessly from one end of the street, which the stores were sited along, to the other end. once in a while, we steped in some good-looking stores or featued-theme stores only to find out that the price was also "good-looking". we have bring our lunch to in case lunch will not be served. the stores here are barely robbers, charging unbelievably for cheap things we have in China. shall we eating or shopping? the shopping and cuisines back in shanghai can be far more better than here!

originally, we were really looking forward to the trip to charlottesville, where the University of Virginia is located, the content of which at lease will benefit us in the aspect of broadening our view. we got up early and neglected the fatigue of days of lectures and excursions and found what we gained is not that worthwhile.

i am not sure whether i am at a low tide, a stage should be encountered during the culture adaption, start to criticize everything. no offensive to all the faculty and interns, who have made great efforts during the programme. it just the sense that the aganda can be schaduled more perfect become stronger and stronger these days.

we really appreciate what interns and the directors have done for us.
but at the writing board in the end of the street, we wrote "we miss Shanghai".
